Dave Steen (shot putter)

Dave Steen (actually David Lorne Steen; born January 2, 1942 ) is a former Canadian shot putter and discus thrower .

In 1962 he won bronze in the shot put at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth .

Four years later he won the shot put at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston and was fourth in the discus throw. In 1967 he won bronze in the shot put at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg .

At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 , he defended his title in the shot put and finished tenth in the discus throw.

He was six times Canadian champion in the shot put (1962, 1965-1969), twice in discus throw (1965, 1967) and once in hammer throw (1960).

His nephew Dave Steen was successful as a decathlete.
