Davey Arthur

Davey Arthur (born September 24, 1954 in Donegal ) is an Irish folk musician , singer and songwriter .

Life

Davey Arthur moved to Scotland at the age of two, where he started making music at the age of 8. At 18 he went back to Ireland and composed his own pieces. In the early 1970s he was a member of The Buskers , but it wasn't until he joined the Irish folk group The Fureys in 1976 that he became world famous. In 1992 he left the group to pursue his solo career. Since then he has been working on various musical projects and is on tour with his own program. Davey Arthur is considered one of the world's best banjo players .

Davey Arthur is the author of over 40 compositions, which have been published on 28 albums. Some records have been awarded silver or gold. In addition, works by him can be found on numerous Irish folk samplers.
