David Arian

David Arian , originally Dagobert Arian (born May 28, 1903 in Siemianowitz , today part of Siemianowice Śląskie , Oberschlesìen ; † 1991 ) was a German-Israeli police and state official.

Live and act

After attending school, Arian studied law at the Universities of Breslau , Munich , Freiburg and Berlin . 1924 doctorate he at with one of Hans Helfritz supervised work at the University of Breslau for Dr. jur. et. rer. pole. He spent his legal traineeship in Beuthen, among other places . After passing the Great State Examination , he joined the police service as a court assessor.

From spring 1929 until the Prussian state government was violently disempowered by the Reich government in the wake of the so-called Prussian strike of July 20, 1932, he worked in Department I A (Political Police) and I of the Berlin Police Headquarters . There he headed Department 3, which was responsible for processing all matters relating to the organization and activities of the KPD and the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition (RGO) , i.e. for monitoring and combating left-wing radicalism . Arian was politically organized in the SPD . On July 22, 1932, as part of the purge of the Political Police in Prussia, pro-republican forces deported Arian to Division III of the Police Headquarters.

On August 8, 1932, Arian was given leave of absence to work as a laborer for the Prussian legal representation in the trial against the Reich government because of the Prussian strike. As a result, he was involved in the briefs of the Prussian government within this process.

In February 1933, Arian was relieved of his position at the police headquarters and briefly detained in May 1933. His release took place following the intervention of his former colleague in the political police, Rudolf Diels , who has now risen to head of the Secret State Police Office .

In September 1933 Arian emigrated to Palestine . There he worked from 1934 to 1943 for the General Mortgage Bank of Palestine and from 1943 to 1947 in the planning department of the Jewish Agency . In this capacity he led the development of the administration and the higher state offices of the newly established State of Israel . After the establishment of the State of Israel, Arian took on senior positions in the Israeli Ministry of Labor. He also served as a university professor and Israeli agent in Ethiopia .

On September 14, 1942, Arian Bat married Sheva Mirvia, with whom he lived in Beth Hakerem.
