David Arkenstone (2015)

David Arkenstone (born July 1, 1952 in Chicago , USA ) is an American musician and composer . Stylistically, his work can be assigned to the terms New Age and Trance , whereby the majority of his compositions are purely instrumental and often show influences from Celtic music . Arkenstone has produced 40 studio albums to date and has been nominated three times for a Grammy , as he is involved in film and video game music in addition to his solo career .

biography

After moving to California from his native Chicago at the age of ten , he was exposed to music through several bands during high school . He formed a band named after himself while in college but subsequently turned to a solo career. He released his first studio album Valley of the Clouds in 1987. With Citizen of Time (1990) and In the Wake of the Wind (1991), two of his albums reached number one on the Billboard New Age charts , the latter being the first for a Grammy was nominated.

In 1995 the album Quest of the Dream Warrior appeared , which appeared as the musical framework for a short story written by Arkenstone himself. Later works also appeared more frequently with literature or paintings, although thematically he was often in the field of fantasy . Later he also devoted himself to the musical design of television programs, films and video games. He produced the soundtrack for the independent film PRISM , composed for the History and Discovery Channel and was involved in Blizzard's classic video game World of Warcraft and Blade Runner .

He publishes part of his music as a band under the name Troika .

Personal

Arkenstone has mastered a number of instruments including the cello , guitar , harp , flute , bouzouki and piano . His first marriage has three children - in his second marriage he was married to the musician Diane Arkenstone . With her he also founded the label Neo Pacifica .
