Life

David Bamberg, the son of Theo Bamberg (stage name Okito ), was descended from the Bamberg family of magicians who had produced several generations of magicians; with David Bamberg the continuous series expired in the sixth generation. Bamberg was born in England and came to the United States at a young age, where he was automatically naturalized in 1916 when his father obtained US citizenship.

Bamberg's professional stage career began in 1917 with the mentalist Julius Zancig , whom he supported as Syko the Psychic . Bamberg later traveled with the magician Maurice Raymond .

On March 1, 1929, Bamberg made his debut in Buenos Aires as Fu Manchu , as which he appeared like his father in an oriental costume. For copyright reasons he was called Fu Chan in the USA .

Together with Edmund Spreer, Bamberg invented numerous illusions.

In the 1940s David T. Bamberg played as Fu Manchu in six Mexican films , for which he wrote the scripts himself due to a lack of suitable scripts. In the documentary Heroes of Magic from 2000, Bamberg is shown in archive footage.

Bamberg died in Buenos Aires. His ashes were scattered on the Rio de la Plata. David Bamberg's son did not continue the family tradition as a magician.

Bamberg today has a place in the Hall of Fame of the Society of American Magicians .
