David Barrufet (born June 4, 1970 in Barcelona , Spain ) is a former Spanish handball goalkeeper who played in the Spanish ASOBAL league for FC Barcelona . In 2001 and 2002 he was named the best goalkeeper in the world by the IHF .

Career

Barrufet has been playing handball since he was eight . After six years at the Colegio SAFA Horta, he moved to FC Barcelona, ​​which he stayed with until the end of his career. After initially playing in the youth field, he made his first team debut in 1988. With Barça he won a large number of titles, with seven wins in the Champions League in particular. In the summer of 2010 he ended his career.

Barrufet played 280 international matches for the Spanish national team , making it the record-breaking Spanish national player. With the national team he won the 2005 World Cup in Tunisia.

Barrufet has been a manager at FC Barcelona since October 2015.
