David Borrow

David Borrow (born August 2, 1952 in Huddersfield ) is a British politician and MP in the House of Commons for the constituency of South Ribble .

Life

Borrow spent his school days at Mirfield Grammar School . He then studied economics at Lanchester Polytechnic (now Coventry University ). He joined the Labor Party in 1970 and began training at Yorkshire Bank in 1973 . In 1987 he became a member of the Preston City Council, which he chaired from 1992 to 1995 and from 1995 to 1998. In 1998, Barrow was elected for the first time as a MP and was re-elected for South Riddle in the following general election. On July 3, 1997, Borrow gave his first speech in Parliament. In 1999 Riddle became a member of Parliament's Agriculture Committee , the Agriculture Select Committee, and after the 2001 British General Election , he became a member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee . In 2003, he took on the role of Parliamentary Private Secretary for the then Minister of Transport, Kim Howells, and continued to work for him when Howells moved to the Ministry of Education in 2004. It was not until the British general election in 2005 that his work as Howell's parliamentary secretary ended. Borrow is currently a member of the Defense Select Committee , the UK Parliament's defense committee.

Borrow is openly gay and, along with Stephen Twigg , Ben Bradshaw , Angela Eagle and Gordon Marsden, was one of the first openly gay MPs in the House of Commons . In May 2006 he entered into a registered partnership with his partner .
