David Brito

David Brito (born August 26, 1980 in Maracaibo , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan-Swiss double bass player who works in both classical music and jazz .

biography

David Brito completed a large part of his studies at the José Luis Paz Conservatory in his hometown of Maracaibo. After moving to Switzerland in 2003, he completed his studies at the Lausanne Conservatory in the class of Marc-Antoine Bonanomi and graduated with a teaching diploma in 2006 and a concert diploma in 2009. He then began a course with Bänz Oester and Larry Grenadier at the jazz school in Basel and completed this course in 2014 with a master's degree.

David Brito is a member of the Argovia Philharmonic ( double bass - substitute section leader ) and until 2016 of the Collegium Musicum Basel (double bass solo). He is a double bass teacher at the Conservatoire de Lausanne .

He also founded the Latin jazz band Tendencia Nueva , with which he released three albums with his own compositions. He is also a member of the Ochumare quartet and other ensembles of the singer and violinist Yilian Cañizares and can be heard on her album Invocación .
