David Carter (born June 16, 1972 in Johannesburg ) is an English professional golfer on the European Tour .
Career
Carter became a professional golfer in 1989 . After a few unsuccessful attempts, he won the Tour School and qualified for the 1995 European Tour.
In March 1997, he collapsed in a hotel in Dubai and only owed his life to an immediate emergency brain operation.
His return in 1998 was impressive: he won the prestigious Murphy's Irish Open in a jump-off against the exceptional Scottish golfer Colin Montgomerie and finished the season 19th on the European Tour Order of Merit . In the same year Carter won the World Cup for England with Nick Faldo .
Since then he has not won a win, but was able to maintain his full eligibility to play in the major European tournament series until 2007.
David Carter is married with one child and has lived in Prague since 2008 .
