David Divessen (Councilor)
David Divessen , also Divitz (* around 1490 in Lübeck ; † October 11, 1533 ibid) was a councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
David Divessen was the son of the mayor and diplomat David Divessen, who died in 1509 . He was elected councilor of the city of Lübeck in 1528. During his term of office the introduction of the new church order by Johannes Bugenhagen with its effects on the Lübeck council falls . Divessen, too, turned to the Reformation early on and enjoyed the trust of the citizens. After Nikolaus Brömse and Hermann Plönnies left the city at Easter 1531, he was placed under house arrest like the other councilors. In a settlement concluded a few days later between the citizens' committees of the 64 and 100 under Jürgen Wullenwever and the council, he was elected as an informant. He died at the age of 43.
Divessen had been married to Anna Freudenberg since 1527, the widow of the Lübeck citizen and mint master Berthold Warmboecke, one of the first followers of Martin Luther in Lübeck. Their son died as a child. His daughter Anna Divessen married the Lübeck councilor Johann Spangenberg .
