David Drebin

David Drebin (* 1970 in Toronto , Canada ) is a New York City based advertising and fashion photographer .

life and work

Drebin graduated from the Parsons School of Design in New York, which he successfully completed in 1996. In 2005 David Drebin had his first solo exhibition at the Camera Work gallery in Berlin . A selection of his pictures appeared in 2007 in the monograph Love And Other Stories , followed by the photo books The Morning After , Beautiful Disasters , Chasing Paradise and Dreamscapes . He was responsible for international campaigns for companies such as American Express and Davidoff and published in magazines such as Vanity Fair , Travel + Leisure, National Geographic, GQ , Elle and Rolling Stone . He made portraits of Charlize Theron , John Legend , Sandra Bernhard , Kevin Bacon and Diane von Fürstenberg , among others .

Art market

His photo Movie Star (61 × 49.8 cm) achieved an average estimate of GBP 3,000 at auction at Christie's London in 2004 . In 2009, the Movie Star photo ( 121.9 × 152.4 cm) sold for $ 16,250 at Phillips New York.

The lavishly staged photos by David Drebin usually cost five-figure sums. The Central Park photo sold for $ 78,000 at Art Miami 2011. Both photographs are erotically charged images - a landscape photo and an interior .

The Berlin gallery Camera Work owns the exclusive rights for Europe, in the USA and Asia it is represented by the Contessa Gallery Cleveland, Ohio.
