David Erdmann
Christian Friedrich David Erdmann (born July 28, 1821 in Güstebiese ; † March 11, 1905 in Dresden ) was a German Protestant theologian and church historian .
Life
Erdmann studied Protestant theology in Berlin, where he became a follower of Ernst Wilhelm Hengstenberg and August Neander . In 1845 he joined the Berlin Wingolf . From 1851 he was first division pastor. In 1853 he became a private lecturer in Berlin, in 1856 a full professor of New Testament theology and church history at the University of Königsberg , where he also served as pastor. In 1864 he moved to Breslau as general superintendent of the old Prussian church province of Silesia , where he was made an honorary professor in 1865. In 1900 he retired.
From 1882 to 1899 Erdmann was chairman of the Association for the History of the Evangelical Church in Silesia.
