David Garcion (born September 27, 1973 in Saint-Nazaire ) is a former French football player .

Career

Garcion began playing football in the youth team of FC Nantes , from where he moved to the club's top professional team in 1994 . There he was mainly intended as a supplementary player for Japhet N'Doram . Accordingly, he only made three appearances in the entire season, but was able to celebrate the sovereign win of the championship and thus his greatest success in the first year of his career. In the following season he was used more regularly and made his debut in the UEFA Champions League . Because he could not achieve a regular place despite his great talent, he was awarded by those responsible in 1996 to the OSC Lille . At Lille he fought successfully as a regular player to stay in the first division and had a good season until it was announced in April 1997 that he had tested positive for anabolic steroids in a game against OGC Nice in December of the previous year and was banned for nine months. As a result, Nantes decided against a previously intended return of the player and sold Garcion to league rivals EA Guingamp . In Guingamp, however, he was only a reservist and in 1998 also had to accept relegation to the second division . But in addition to his bad reputation due to doping, there was a serious injury, which is why he did not play there more often. The new coach Guy Lacombe almost completely waived him, so that he could not go beyond a single use in the 1999/2000 season. He was then without a club for a while before he was committed during the winter break of 2000/01 from SM Caen , who had made a bad start to the second division season. This and the following season he spent as a regular player, but was ousted by Mathieu Bodmer in the 2002/03 season . This resulted in his contract not being renewed and Garcion opting to end his career. Instead, he was hired as a representative at the cleaning company Groupe Nicollin .
