David James Giles (born November 27, 1964 in Sydney ) is a former Australian sailor .
successes
David Giles, who for the Dobroyd Sailing Club sailed, took four times with Colin Beashel in the boat class Star to the Olympic Games in part. On their debut in Barcelona in 1992 they finished seventh before winning the bronze medal four years later in Atlanta . With 32 points, they finished the regatta in third place behind the Brazilian and Swedish boats. The Games in 2000 in Sydney they closed again starting in seventh place, while in 2004 in Athens did not come on the 15th square. In 1998 they became world champions together in Portorož, and a year later they won the open European championships in Helsinki .
