David Hinrich Schneider

David Hinrich Schneider (born October 13, 1755 in Stralsund ; † November 26, 1826 there ) was a German lawyer and entomologist .

Life

David Hinrich Schneider attended Stralsund high school . He studied law from 1774 to 1777 at the University of Göttingen and then until 1778 at the University of Greifswald . He worked as a lawyer with admission to the Wismar Tribunal and the Greifswald Court Court in Stralsund, where he was a member of the city council from 1795 to 1808.

In his free time he was engaged in entomology and put on extensive insect collections. He was the author and editor of several entomological works. He worked with Moritz Balthasar Borkhausen on his systematic natural history of European butterflies. (Frankfurt 1788–1794, 5 volumes), for which he also wrote the introduction.
