David Jacobs (diplomat)

David Jacobs (born July 11, 1947 in Reitz , Orange Free State ) is a South African ambassador .

Life

David Jacobs is married to Eidaleen Hugo; they have a daughter and a son. David Jacobs studied law at the Northwest University in Potchefstroom and theology at the University of Johannesburg ; From 1969 to 1978 he was assigned to the Ministry of Justice. In 1978 he joined the foreign service. From 1979 to 1980 he was second class legation secretary in Montevideo. From 1980 to 1981 he was the private secretary of Pik Botha . From 1981 to 1985 he was Minister Counselor in Bonn. From 1985 to 1987 he headed the Germany department in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRC). From 1987 to 1991 he had exequatur as consul general in Frankfurt am Main . From 1992 to 1994 he headed the DIRC Parliament Liaison Office. In 1992 he headed the Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia department at DIRC . From 1993 to 1996 he headed the DIRC administration department . From 1997 to 2001 he was Ambassador to Athens and was appointed High Commissioner in Nicosia.
