David Kopp (born January 5, 1979 in Bonn ) is a former German cyclist .

Career

David Kopp was part of the Telekom junior team until 2001 and recommended himself as a successful U 23 driver and a. with a stage win in the Thuringia Tour for a contract in the Telekom team , where he was initially unable to assert himself and so accepted a new challenge with the Lamonta team . After a strong season he switched to Team Wiesenhof , where he was able to convince again as a fast driver with classic ambitions and thus won a contract with Team Gerolsteiner for 2006 . In his first year there he confirmed his performance and won a stage of the UCI ProTour belonging Eneco Tour and participated in the Tour de France part, which he, however, did not finish.

In the 2008 season, Kopp drove for Cycle Collstrop . On September 11, 2008, he tested positive for cocaine on a criterion in Belgium . At the end of November 2009, the Flemish Cycling Federation imposed a one-year ban, which will come into effect retrospectively from January 1, 2009, so that Kopp will be able to compete again in 2010. In April 2010, the UCI , the World Cycling Federation, accepted the application of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to extend the ban until September 11, 2010.

In the 2010 and 2011 seasons, Kopp rode for the Continental Team Kuota-Indeland (2011 Eddy Merckx-Indeland ), where he ended his career as a professional cyclist.

On June 24, 2013, he confessed to the Stuttgart district court that he had been doped with EPO, growth hormones, testosterone, synacthene and cortisone during his time at Gerolsteiner. He also mentioned the names of the former Gerolsteiner team doctors,
