David Keyt

David Keyt (* 1930 ) is an American philosopher and historian of philosophy .

Keyt received his BA from Kenyon College in Gambier , Ohio , and received his doctorate in 1955 from Cornell University with a dissertation on Clarence Irving Lewis ' theory of meaning. He was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Washington and is now Professor Emeritus there. He is also a Research Professor at the Center for the Philosophy of Freedom at the University of Arizona .

He has held visiting professorships at Cornell University, the University of Hong Kong , Princeton University and the University of California at Los Angeles and Irvine . Research stays took him to the Center for Hellenic Studies in Washington, DC and the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton .

His main research interests are the logic and philosophy of antiquity , especially Plato and Aristotle, as well as the political philosophy of the Greeks.
