David Leavitt
David Leavitt (born June 23, 1961 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American writer and professor at the University of Florida .
Leavitt became internationally known in 1984 with the short story book Family Dance. His first novel The Lost Language of the Cranes (1986) was made into a film for British television. Also published in German translation: Everything we lack (novel), old enough to cheat (short stories), night music with a stranger (novel) (was filmed under the title The Page Turner ) and instructions for use for Florence (literary city guide) .
David Leavitt is considered one of the most important openly gay authors in contemporary literature. He lives in the USA and Italy .
