David Lee Murphy
David Lee Murphy (born January 7, 1958 in Herrin , Illinois ) is an American singer and songwriter.
Career
Murphy arrived in Nashville in 1983 hoping for a career as a country star. But it would be almost ten years before he got his first record deal. In the meantime he established himself fairly successfully as a songwriter and was the band leader of the Blue Tick Hounds.
In 1994 David Murphy first appeared with a song on the soundtrack album Eight Seconds . A year later he recorded his first CD: Out With A Bang . All the songs were composed by himself. His debut album reached gold status and there were two successful single releases, of which Dust In The Bottle advanced to number one on the country charts. The second hit, Party Crowd , was only sixth, but was the most played country song on American radio in 1995, making it his greatest success. With his second album Gettin 'Out The Good Stuff he could not repeat the success. However, a single single was placed in the country's top 20.
But his songs were still in demand. Chris LeDoux , Hank Williams Jr., and others used his material. In 2004 David Lee Murphy released his fourth album Tryin 'to Get There after a long break and his fifth album No Zip Code in 2018 with Kenny Chesney .
