David Lukáš

David Lukáš (born January 9, 1981 in Hlinsko v Čechách ) is a Czech composer and conductor.

Lukáš attended the music school in Vysoké Mýto, where he had violin and first composition lessons. He then studied conducting at the Pardubice Conservatory with Vlastislav Novák and until 2005 at the State Conservatory in Prague with Hynek Farkač . Here he was also a student of Miriam Němcová and Miroslav Košler . He also took private composition lessons from Otomar Kvěch , Radek Rejšek , Jiří Pazour and Sylvie Bodorová .

During his training, Lukáš conducted various ensembles, including a chamber orchestra he founded in Vysoké Mýto, the Litomyšl Symphony Orchestra, Jaromír Vogels Symphonetic Orchestra in Prague, a student orchestra at the International Youth Music Camp in Horní Jelení and, from 2006 to 2008, the student orchestra of the Prague Music School -Hostivař.

Lukáš's early compositions include a rhapsody in G major (1997), a minuetto and Black Eyes (1999). His Three Miniatures for String Orchestra and Two Miniatures for String Orchestra were published in the United States by Alliance Publications. In 2002 he gave the world premiere of Rhapsody for symphony orchestra with the Litomyšl Symphony Orchestra . In 2004 he performed his Missa brevis with the Rubínek children's choir from Vysoké Mýto on a US tour . Among other things, he also composed works for soloists such as Kateřina Englichová , Vilém Veverka and the Böhm Trio .

His larger compositions include the cantata Pověsti České based on texts by Veronika Vlachová for large symphony orchestra, choir and soloists, a symphony, a ballet for strings and percussion and a requiem for symphony orchestra, choir and soloists.
