Sylvie Bodorová

Sylvie Bodorová (born December 31, 1954 in České Budějovice ) is a Czech composer.

Career

Bodorová studied composition at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno and completed postgraduate studies at the Music Academy in Prague. She continued her education in Gdansk and with Franco Donatoni at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and from 1987 took composition courses with Ton de Leeuw in Amsterdam. Along with Zdeněk Lukáš and Luboš Fišer, she was a member of the Quattro composer group founded by Otmar Mácha in 1995 .

Her most successful composition is the Terezin Ghetto Requiem , which premiered at the Warwick and Leamington Festival and played again the following year. a. at Wigmore Hall in London. After the performance at the Prague Spring 2000, Bodorová was commissioned to compose the oratorio Juda Maccabeus for a performance in St Vitus Cathedral in 2002 . She composed the violin concerto Silberwolke for the Camerata Bern , the piano concerto Come d´accordo (2005) for the Prague Philharmonic and the pianist Martin Kasík and the oratorio Moses for the International Smetana Festival in Litomyšl . The Luxembourg Sinfonietta commissioned her to compose Kafka's dreams for the premiere in 2010 .
