Martin Kasík

Martin Kasík (* 1976 in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm ) is a Czech pianist.

Kasík studied at the Ostrava Conservatory with Monika Tugendliebová and with Ivan Klánský at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He also took master classes with Lazar Berman , Eugen Indjic , Christian Zacharias , Paul Badura-Skoda , Claude Helffer and Pierre Jasmin . He won first prizes at the 1994 International Piano Competition in Kil, Sweden, at the Chopin Competition in Mariánske Lázne in 1997, at the International Piano Competition "Prague Spring" in 1998 and in the European elimination of the Young Concert Artists Competition also in 1998. The following year he reached the final of the competition , In 2000 he was awarded the Davidoff Prix as the best Czech interpreter under 28 in the field of classical music.

In 2000 Kasík went on a concert tour through the USA and Canada. In 2002 he performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Pinchas Zukerman . In 2004 a Japan tour with the Czech Philharmonic followed , in 2005 another US tour. In 2006 he gave the world premiere of Sylvie Bodorová's piano concerto Come d'accordo with the Prague Philharmonic . After concerts in Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Switzerland (with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich under Jiří Kout ) he made a guest appearance in 2008 a. a. in the UK, Poland and Spain. In addition to radio recordings, Kasík made several CDs with compositions by Bach , Beethoven , Chopin , Schumann , Rachmaninow , Slavický and others.
