David M. Kennedy (historian)

David Michael Kennedy (born July 22, 1941 in Seattle , Washington ) is an American historian . He is a professor at Stanford University .

biography

In 1963 he graduated from Stanford University with a BA degree. From Yale University he earned a master's and later a doctorate. He has taught at Stanford University since 1967, and since 1993 as Donald J. McLachlan Professor of History. He is also Director of the Bill Lane Center for the American West and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society .

As a historian, he specializes in American history. He has received numerous awards for his work , including the Pulitzer Prize for History in 2000 for his work Freedom From Fear .
