David Magen

David Magen ( Hebrew דוד מגן, born David Monsonego in Hebrew דוד מונסוניגו September 4, 1945 in Fez , Morocco ) is a former Israeli politician.

Life

Magen was born in Morocco in 1945 and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1949. From 1963 to 1972, Magen served in the Israeli army. From 1976 to 1986 he was mayor of Kirjat Gat . As early as July 20, 1981, he became a member of the Knesset and was a member of parliament until June 7, 1999. He was also a member of the 15th Knesset from March 8, 2001 to March 17, 2003. After he was not elected to the 8th place on the list of his party, he moved to the House of Representatives after Uri Savir left. During his time in parliament he was a member of the Budget Committee , the Defense Committee and the Subcommittee on Intelligence Services.

From March 7, 1990 to June 11, 1990, Magen was a minister without portfolio in the government of Yitzchak Shamir . From June 11, 1990 until the end of the legislative period on July 13, 1992, he was Minister of Economics and Planning . From June 18, 1996 to May 20, 1997, Deputy Minister of Finance under Dan Meridor in the first term of Benjamin Netanyahu . David Magen was a Likud politician until 1999 , after which he was a member of the center party Mifleget ha-Merkas .

From 2008 to 2011, Magen was CEO of the state-owned real estate company Amidar .
