David Magirus

David Magirus (born January 6, 1566 in Vaihingen an der Enz ; † January 13, 1635 in Tübingen ) was a German lawyer and professor and rector at the University of Tübingen .

Life

Magirus was the son of the theologian Johannes Magirus , who exchanged the family name Koch for Magirus. David Magirus enrolled at the University of Tübingen in 1581 and received his Bac in 1582 . art. and in 1585 Mag. art. He studied law (JUD February 23, 1591) and was there from 1592 to 1635 professor of law, 1607 at the same time Brandenburg councilor. 1600, 1604, 1607, 1611, 1626, 1629, 1631 and 1635 he was rector of the University of Tübingen. His portrait hangs in the professors' gallery in Tübingen .

The Abbot from Lorch and hymn poet Jakob Magirus was his brother.
