David Rhodes (born May 2, 1956 in London ) is an English guitarist , songwriter and composer . He became known through his extensive collaboration with Peter Gabriel .

biography

Rhodes was born in 1956 in London as the third of five children to Philip and Elizabeth Rhodes. His early musical influences included his father, who played the banjo , the Telstars, and the Beatles . He came to Gabriel through his band Random Hold , a new wave formation that supported the Peter Gabriel tour in 1980.

In 2009 he released his first solo album Bittersweet , initially as a download from the Bowers & Wilkins Music Club , and in 2010 as a CD from the CAREMusic Group .

In 2013 another album came out, this time recorded and released as a trio by Ged Lynch (drums), Charlie Jones (bass) and David Rhodes himself. They called themselves Rhodes and that's also the name of the album. Now they are called The David Rhodes Band. The Rhodes recordings were crowdfunded through the PledgeMusic website .

In 2014 he was part of the band in the concert series Before the Dawn by Kate Bush .
