The David Suzuki Foundation is a non-profit environmental protection organization registered in Canada and the United States and based in Vancouver . Her main topics are global warming , protection of the oceans , sustainable fishing , renewable energies and sustainability .

The foundation was established in 1990. Co-founder and namesake was the science presenter and environmental activist David Suzuki . He and Tara Cullis had invited to a think tank on Pender Island , the discussions of which led to the founding of the organization, as a result of the numerous feedback on his radio series It's a Matter of Survival ( It's a matter of survival ) .

The organization publishes information letters , podcasts , reports and scientific studies on environmental issues. Based on a study by the Union of Concerned Scientists , the organization developed the David Suzuki's Nature Challenge ( David Suzuki's Nature Challenge ). It is a program of action for citizens to help protect the environment and improve their quality of life by making simple changes to their lifestyle. In June 2008, 364,855 people registered on the website there.

In 2008 the David Suzuki Foundation had about 50 employees. Its managing director is Peter Robinson.

Since 2009 the foundation has been cooperating with the Climate Reality Project founded by Al Gore, whose Canadian representation is housed in the foundation's premises. Together, the organizations want to raise awareness of the urgency of the climate crisis .
