David Torrance

David Torrance (born March 13, 1961 in Kirkcaldy ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Scottish National Party .

Torrance attended Balwearie High School and Adam Smith College , which he graduated from with an engineering degree. He has been a member of the SNP since 1981 and was elected council member for the Fife region in 1995 . For the Scottish parliamentary elections in 2011 , Torrance stood as a candidate for the SNP for the constituency of Kirkcaldy . Here he was able to narrowly prevail against the candidate of the Labor Party , Marilyn Livingstone , who had represented the constituency since 1999, and moved into the Scottish Parliament for the first time .
