David Weatherley
David Weatherley (born March 1, 1939 in London ) is a British - New Zealand actor .
Life
David Weatherley was born in London, but has lived in New Zealand since the early 1960s. Before he emigrated to New Zealand, Weatherley had already served in Canada for five years in the local army. From 1962 he began his career as a radio announcer and on the theater stages of New Zealand . He had one of his first television roles in 1981 in the television miniseries Under the Mountain , the film adaptation of a novel by Maurice Gee . He also took on a role in the remake of the same name that appeared in 2009 .
In the 1980s he made other appearances on television, including television series such as Jack Holborn and Home and Away . In the popular series Xena - The Warrior Princess and Hercules, he acted in one episode. He became internationally known for his role as Barley Man Buttercup in Peter Jackson's feature film Lord of the Rings: The Companions from 2001. In the English version of Lego: The Lord of the Rings , he also played the role of innkeeper Buttercup. In 2004 he took on another speaking role in the animated film Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords . He later had roles in the 2007 Power Rangers films as Spencer, as well as in the series Legend of the Seeker and Hounds .
Weatherly is divorced and has two children.
