Davide Astori began his career in the youth of the US Ponte San Pietro and then moved to the youth of AC Milan. For the 2006/07 season he was awarded from there to AS Pizzighettone in the C1 series , in which he established himself as a regular player and scored his first goal as a professional player. The following season he was awarded to the US Cremonese , which also played in the C1 series. He also got a regular place at Cremonese. In July 2008 he moved to Cagliari Calcio . In his first season with the Sardinians he did not get beyond the role of a complementary player and received just ten appearances in the Serie A . At the beginning of the 2009/10 season he fought for a regular place in the defense.

After six seasons in Cagliari, Astori moved on loan to AS Roma in the summer of 2014 , where he was also part of the permanent staff. Despite his performance, AS Roma did not take the purchase option and Astori initially returned to Cagliari. In August 2015, he was loaned to AC Florence , which subsequently signed him. From 2017 Astori was captain of the team.

National team

Astori played four games for the Italian U-18 national team.

On August 6, 2010 he was appointed to the squad of the Italian senior team for the international match against Ivory Coast on August 10, 2010. He finally made his debut for the Squadra Azzurra on March 29, 2011 in an international match against Ukraine , which Italy won 2-0. He participated with Italy in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and scored his only international goal in the third-place match against Uruguay . He was last used in the World Cup qualifier against Israel on September 5, 2017.

death

On March 4, 2018, Astori was found dead in a hotel room in Udine . An autopsy revealed that he had died of cardiac arrest after bradycardia . Astori left behind his partner and a two-year-old daughter.

On that day, Florence would have played a league game at Udinese Calcio . All Serie A games scheduled for that day have been canceled.

In order to honor Astori, Fiorentina and Cagliari Calcio no longer want to give out his shirt number, the 13, in the future. In addition, the club announced in March 2018 that it wanted to rename its sports center from “Campini” to “Centro Sportivo Davide Astori”.

In addition, it was announced on April 4, 2019 that Florence intends to extend Astori's working paper "for life" in order to support the bereaved with this money.
