Davide Casaleggio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Davide Casaleggio (born January 14, 1976 in Milan ) is an Italian internet entrepreneur and political activist of the populist five-star movement .

Davide grew up in Ivrea , where his father Gianroberto Casaleggio (1956-2016) worked for Olivetti . He studied at the Milan Bocconi University ' Economia aziendale'. After the death of his father, he became the owner and chairman of the Internet marketing company Casaleggio Associati , which has been publishing and providing strategic advice to Beppe Grillo's blog since 2005.

Since 2016 Casaleggio has been a prominent member of the Five Star Movement, which was founded by his father along with Beppe Grillo. Casaleggio has no official function in the party. However, as the sole owner of a foundation important to the party, he can exercise considerable power in the background. Casaleggio also controls the party's internet platform, which has been criticized on various occasions. It is on this platform, called Rousseau , that the party's votes take place, which makes it extremely important. At the same time, little is known about how the platform works and the data collected on it are not publicly available: “He alone knows what makes each member tick. That throws a crooked light on the party that promotes transparency. "

Since Grillo (* 1946) withdrew from the party, Casaleggio has actually been leading it together with Luigi Di Maio .
