Dawn Bender (born February 21, 1935 in Glendale , California ) is an American actress .

Life

Dawn Bender was born in Glendale, California in 1935. She attended school in Eagle Rock , a Los Angeles neighborhood. At the age of two, Bender played her first role as Baby Lisa in Confession at the side of Basil Rathbone and Kay Francis . In the following years she worked as a child and teenager in several other film productions. In 1953, Bender played a supporting role as Katherine Follets in Theater Fever , directed by George Cukor . Her only leading role was played in 1959 as Betty Morgan in a science fiction film Teenagers from Outer Space , which despite its cheap production conditions achieved a certain cult status. After this strip, she ended her acting career and later became a full-time teacher. She was 1956-1963 when also Teenage Consultant responsible for the care of young actors on film sets, including for the comedy In Love, a 1 .

In the early 1970s, Dawn Bender's death was reported in the media due to a name confusion. In the years that followed, several publications on Teenagers from Outer Space reported the withdrawn actress as deceased. The confusion only cleared up after an interview with Bender published in 2006.

In addition to her work as a film actress, Dawn Bender has appeared in more than 500 radio productions. She has also worked as an actress in several theaters in the Los Angeles area. Bender was married to actor Warren Vanders from 1953 to 1955 , whom she met in college. The marriage ended in divorce. She now lives near Los Angeles with her third husband, Emmett Jacobs, a former professor at Loyola Marymount University .
