Warren Vanders

Warren Vanders (actually Warren John Vanderschuit ; born May 23, 1930 in San Fernando , California - † November 27, 2009 in Pasadena , California) was an American actor .

Life

Vanders was a US Navy soldier during the Korean War and boxed in military competitions. He then continued his sports career; so he was part of the Golden Gloves series and won the 1954 title of light heavyweight champion of Southern California . He also played American football .

In 1956, the 1.91 m tall Vanders began studying acting and initially worked as a teacher himself; only gradually did he find roles in film, television and on stage, mostly as a gangster or an unscrupulous power man. His best-known roles have been in westerns  - many on the small screen in Smoking Colts , Bonanza and Daniel Boone ; on the canvas in bloody lead .

For a while he was married to fellow actor Dawn Bender .
