When Jim Dolan Came (Original title: Rough Night in Jericho ) is an American western directed by Arnold Laven for the production company Universal from 1967 with Dean Martin and George Peppard in the leading roles. The film is based on a novel by Marvin H. Albert .

action

A stagecoach is ambushed. The driver Ben Hickman is wounded in the action and is brought into town by the player Jim Dolan, the only passenger in the carriage.

Hickman is a former Santa Fe law enforcement officer, and Dolan was once his deputy. They are now partners for the Molly Lang transport company, which is why they came to Jericho. Molly was once the lover of the ruthless power man Alex Flood, who rules the city, makes the rules and exploits the residents.

Flood forms a lynch mob and bullies the citizens of Jericho who try to organize a secret meeting. As the wounded Hickman recovers from his gunshot wound, Dolan takes a liking to Molly and decides to help her in case Flood's men dare to attempt to take over her stagecoach line again. When exactly that happens, he gets into a heated fight with Yarbrough, one of Flood's men.

Jim Dolan begins to wreak havoc in Floods 'realm, they drive away his cattle and cause explosions on Floods' ranch and gold mine. He is assisted by Hickman and Jace, the former Sheriff of Jericho. Flood then returns to Jericho to seek revenge. He shoots Hickman from behind. Dolan then follows Flood into the mountains, where the two opponents will battle it out for the last time.

Reviews

“After long hesitation, Westerner frees the inhabitants of a provincial town from the reign of terror of an unscrupulous criminal. US western that deals with a classic theme in careful staging without gaining any new aspects. "

"In his first villain role, Dean Martin is incredibly brutal with Jean Simmons, who in turn shows in a long drinking scene with George Peppard what she can take."

- Joe Hembus Western Lexicon

“US westerns with a large cast. The story - loner does away with the reign of terror by a horde of violent lads - gains life and meaning through the qualities of representation and staging as well as through the technical skills of the cameraman and screenwriter. Exciting entertainment for Western friends from the age of 18. "
