Characters

Suzume Yosano
Played By: Mei Nagano
Suzume moves to Tokyo from a rural area to live with her uncle while attending high school. After seeing a shooting star in broad daylight in middle school , she is convinced she will see one again. She skips classes and often hangs out on the roof of the school, which often results in poor grades. When she arrives at her new school, she is given the seat next to Mamura. She meets Shishio, who she later finds out to be her class teacher, when she is on the way to her uncle's house. Ultimately, she falls in love with him. Since Shishio knows Suzume's uncle, they see each other quite often. When she confesses her feelings to Shishio, he rejects her. Since she can't get over him, she confesses her feelings to him one more time. This time Shishio accepts and they have a secret date. However, this relationship is short-lived because Shishio believes that their love for one another is not real love. Feeling hurt and rejected, Suzume is so depressed that she flees back to the country. Mamura tries to cheer her up by taking her to the aquarium where she was with Shishio. At first she doesn't want to go, but at some point she understands why Mamura wants to take her there. Little by little she notices how much Mamura cares for her and realizes that she is in love with him. When she runs to his house and confesses her love to him, he accepts. From then on they go out together.
Satsuki Shishio

At some point Shishio asks Suzume what she would do if he stopped teaching. To his surprise, she confesses her love and he says it was just for fun. When Suzume's uncle Yukichi accidentally learns about the relationship between the two, he does not agree with it. Shishio realizes the gravity of the situation and says that they should end the relationship and return to a normal teacher-student relationship. He says that Suzume's love for him is just admiration and that she doesn't really love him. However, he soon realizes that he still loves her, but cannot be with her. It annoys Mamura that Shishio hurts Suzume's feelings, which often hinders the relationship. By the time Shishio tries to get back together with Suzume, she is already meeting with Mamura.

Despite his feelings, Mamura decides to keep them a secret until Shishio ends his relationship with Suzume. In the second year of high school, Mamura becomes very popular with the lower school students, much to the sorrow of Suzume. Suzume's friends have the idea that the two should pretend that they are dating so that the girls from lower school leave Mamura alone. When Mamura takes Suzume to the aquarium, he confesses his feelings to her, whereupon she is unsure how to react. On the way home, Suzume realizes that she loves him too, accepts his confession and the two start dating.
