De'Shawn Washington III (born around 1990 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor .

life and career

De'Shawn Washington III was born around 1990 in the metropolis of Chicago in the US state of Illinois, where he grew up and began acting at the age of eleven. Through his father Shawn, who works as an actor himself, and his mother Renee, a model, he and his younger brother Isaiah were introduced to acting and acted side by side, especially in the early days. The then eleven-year-old had his breakthrough with the leading roles of Bill and Lane in the locally performed play Go Ask Alice , based on the 1971 book of the same name by Beatrice Sparks . It was around this time that he began appearing in both local and international commercials, one of his first being a Chicago Bulls spot with then Bulls player Kirk Hinrich . From the age of 14 he worked as a stand-up comedian , always writing his own plays. During this time he also had his first appearances in the famous improv comedy club on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles . Furthermore, De'Shawn Washington was an active volunteer for Project SHARE in Chicago, where he served food to economically disadvantaged people. He then moved with his family to Los Angeles, where he continued to appear as an actor at his school and won various awards. In 2006 he was seen for the first time in a well-known film production. In the dance film Step Up by choreographer Anne Fletcher , he can be seen in the role of Skinny Carter , who dies in the course of the film in which he is shot in a drive-by . Two years later he was seen in a small and insignificant supporting role in Lori Petty's directorial debut, The Poker House , before things went quiet again for the young actor.
