Lori Petty (born October 14, 1963 in Chattanooga , Tennessee ) is an American actress , voice actress , screenwriter and director .

Life

Lori Petty grew up as the oldest of three sisters. She graduated from North High School in Sioux City , Iowa in 1982 . She then worked as a graphic designer in Omaha for a few years .

Petty made her debut in 1985 on the television series The Equalizer . In the TV movie Bates Motel (1987) she appeared alongside Jason Bateman . In the thriller Dangerous Surf (1991) she played one of the bigger roles on the side of Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves . In the movie A Class of Their Own (1992) she appeared alongside Madonna , Tom Hanks and Geena Davis .

In the SF action film Tank Girl (1995) Petty took on the lead role. The supporting roles include Ice-T , Naomi Watts and Malcolm McDowell . She also played a leading role in the 1996 television series Lush Life . In the comedy Relax ... It's Just Sex (1998), she appeared alongside Seymour Cassel and Jennifer Tilly . In the music film Prey for Rock & Roll (2003) she played one of the bigger roles alongside Gina Gershon .

She also took on a few supporting roles in television series such as Booker , Star Trek: Spaceship Voyager , CSI: NY , Dr. House or Orange Is the New Black .

In her feature film directorial debut, The Poker House , she filmed her own childhood of violence.
