Benjamin DeMott
Benjamin DeMott (born June 2, 1924 in Rockville Center , Long Island , New York , † September 29, 2005 in Worthington , Massachusetts ) was an American author, cultural critic and professor.
Life
DeMott dealt in particular with contemporary American life.
In addition to numerous other works, DeMott was particularly well known for his cultural criticism in numerous magazines and his trilogy, consisting of the works The Imperial Middle: Why Americans Can't Think Straight about Class (1990), The Trouble with Friendship: Why American's Can't Think Straight about Race (1995) and Killer Woman Blues: Why Americans Can't Think Straight about Gender (2000).
