Dead Space 3 is a video game from the US development studio Visceral Games . It is a third-person shooter set in a science fiction scenario and the fifth game in the Dead Space series . It was released by Electronic Arts in Europe on February 8, 2013 for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Dead Space 3 continues the storyline of Dead Space 2 . Player character Isaac Clarke learns that his former girlfriend Ellie Langford is in big trouble and sets out to come to her aid. He comes into conflict with the followers of the Unitology sect, who want to wipe out humanity in order to give the natural development of life the chance for a new beginning.

Dead Space 3 received generally positive reviews, which were significantly worse compared to Dead Space and Dead Space 2 . The version for Xbox 360 at Metacritic achieved an average rating of 78 out of 100 points and the PS3 version 77%. Among other things, the reviewers were disappointed that the game had strayed too far from its roots of survival horror and had mutated into a generic-looking shooter. On the other hand, the co-op mode was positively received . The Swiss magazine Gbase gave the game a rating of 7.5 / 10 points and praised the good technology and the great scenery. On the other hand, the somewhat weak plot and the low horror factor were criticized.
Trivia
Unlike the previous parts Dead Space and Dead Space 2 , no animated feature film was produced, but the graphic novel Dead Space: Liberation , which sheds light on the background of Ellie Langford and the search for a solution to the marker problem.
In the first few levels, while searching for Ellie, Isaac comes across the remains of a destroyed navy. The signal from Ellie comes from an abandoned space station called Roanoke , which is a reference to the missing Roanoke settlement .
