Death in Action (often also known under the acronym DIA ) was a German hardcore and thrash metal band that was founded in 1986 in Heidenheim an der Brenz , Baden-Württemberg , and has since disbanded.

history

The band was formed in 1986. After the band had developed the first songs, a first demo followed in 1987 with Veins of Fear . After the band had signed a contract with We Bite Records , the debut album Toxic Waste followed in 1988 . The album was recorded in the Hildesheim Masterplan Studio and the group consisted of singer Ralf Pflüger, guitarist Markus "Glenn" Krügener, bassist Udo Franke and Willi Golus. After the release, all members left the band except for guitarist Krügener. Ralf Theilacker joined the line-up as bass player, while Robbi Balci took the position of drummer. Krügener also took over the singing position, whereupon the second album Just for Our Sake…? joined We Bite Records. Another guitarist, Günter Oppold, could be heard on the album. In June 1991 the band recorded the third album Stuck in Time in the Dust Magic Studio in Siegen . In the meantime, Krügener had completely concentrated on the role of singer. Marc Oppold was also represented as the new drummer. In 1996 the last album Scheiterpaufen brennt was released . Andy Speth was the new drummer in the band, while Wolle Hogh played bass. The group has since disbanded.

style

On their debut album Toxic Waste , the band played a mixture of Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk, with the playing of the instruments being based on Thrash Metal and the vocals turning to Hardcore Punk. Lyrically, the group oriented itself more towards the punk genre. The band acted similarly on their second album Just for Our Sake…? : The songs have a complex structure and are variable in tempo , albeit often in the high speed range. The title of the album is directed against animal testing. The band describes the album as follows: “The music of Death In Action expresses the anger and impotence of our young generation and is therefore more than a mere accessory to the lyrics, no, both, music and lyrics are a mirror of our frustrations and conflict-ridden, time. ". The third album, Stuck in Time , was also variable and imaginative, with well thought-out lyrics.
