Deathmarched was a Finnish death metal band from Seinäjoki that was formed in 2009 and disbanded in 2014.
history
The band was founded as a trio in 2009 and emerged from the break-up of the bands Putrid and God Forsaken . The group then began writing the first songs and rehearsing them after a suitable rehearsal room had been found. When Esa Pennala joined the line-up as bass player, the first appearances were possible. In the wall of sound studios in Seinäjoki and the Posti Studios in Helsinki were with producer Panu Posti ten songs recorded for a debut album. Posti also took over the mixing and mastering of the songs in March and April 2012. The album was released that same year under the name Spearhead of Iron on Violent Journey Records . In June 2014 the band broke up.
style
According to Lior “Steinmetal” Stein from metal-temple.com , Spearhead of Iron is about the brutality and destruction of World War II . On the album, the group plays old-school death metal, with slight influences from Doom Metal of the late 1980s and early 1990s. You can also hear influences from Motörhead , Venom , Bolt Thrower , Asphyx and early Sodom . The songs are simply structured and not very melodic. The vocals are reminiscent of Martin van Drunen and Tom Angelripper , while the lead guitar sounds a lot like late Slayer . Matt Coe from eternal-terror.com also described the album as traditional Death Metal in the style of Death , Asphyx, Bolt Thrower and a little Celtic Frost . The speed is mostly in the middle range, while the singing consists of deep growling .
