With the club he won the championship in 1954, two years later he was one of the founding members of the Eredivisie with the club . At the end of the debut season he rose with the team in the second division, but initially remained loyal to the club. In 1960 he moved back to the top division for local rivals PSV Eindhoven . After the runner-up championship in 1962 behind Feijenoord Rotterdam , he won the second championship title of his career in the following season.
