The MÁV series Mk49 is a diesel locomotive developed by Rába Győr in 1960 , seven of which were produced for various narrow-gauge railways of the Hungarian state railway Magyar Államvasutak (MÁV) with a gauge of 760 mm . The machines were in daily use until 1973. A locomotive Mk49 2006 has been preserved as a drivable exhibit on the Budapest Children's Railway.
history
Since the MÁV series Mk48 had proven itself, the Magyar Államvasutak wanted a locomotive with double the drive power for their numerous narrow-gauge railways in Bosnian gauge , in order to be able to replace the steam locomotives used. This is how the Mk49 2001 was created in 1961 , which was tested on the narrow-gauge railway at Sárospatak . In 1962, six more locomotives followed, which were used on the narrow-gauge railway near Hüvösvölgy and in the narrow-gauge network Kecskemét . In contrast to the Mk48, the locomotive was designed with two end cabs.
The locomotives did not bring the results that were expected of them in the operational service, in which they had to perform the services of the MÁV class 490 . The performance was far behind other narrow-gauge diesel locomotives such as B. the ČSD series T 47.0 back. Since they are said to have been prone to failure in operation, the locomotives were concentrated at the Budapest Children's Railway in the mid-1960s. The decommissioning of the locomotives began here in 1971 when the Mk49 2003 and Mk49 2005 were destroyed in a fire in the locomotive shed. Around this time, the locomotives of the FAUR L45H series, which were much more powerful, appeared . Therefore all locomotives were exchanged for these and scrapped except for the Mk49 in 2006 . This locomotive was erected as a memorial on a station of the Budapest Children's Railway. In 2003 the locomotive was removed from its monument base and restored to working condition in the main workshop of the children's railway. The Mk49 2007 is said to have remained at the Technical University in Győr after it was taken out of service , its whereabouts are unknown.
technical description
The series was derived from the standard gauge locomotive MÁV series M38 . In contrast to this locomotive, the Mk49 was built as a machine with two end driver's cabs, between which the machine system was located. In order to achieve a sufficient axle load and because of good running properties, it was designed with four axles.
The locomotive body was supported on the bogies by means of leaf springs. The locomotives of the twelve-cylinder four-cycle diesel engine was driven GANZ Jendrassik JV 12 13.5 / 17 , the at 1,500 min -1 an output of 200 (270 hp) gave kW. The engine was started by an electric starter , the energy was drawn from an on-board network of 24 V. The power transmission was hydrodynamic , the fluid transmission consisted of two converters, the switching point between them was 25 km / h. The reversing gear was connected to the fluid transmission .
The locomotive was equipped with an air brake. The indirectly acting brake was available for the train and the direct acting brake for the locomotive alone . The air required for this and the control of the auxiliary systems was generated by an air compressor of the Ganz MK type 135 with 1,500 l / min. The machines were equipped with a central buffer coupling .
