Deathstrike ( Engl. : Death Strike), sometimes Deathstrike wrote, was a death metal band from Chicago , USA .

history

The band is often mistaken for the predecessor of Master , but it was founded after Master, but made its own recordings before Master. Paul Speckmann founded Death Strike with Chris Mittelbrun in 1985; Mittelbrun had previously applied for Master's as a guitarist, but was rejected as not sufficiently original at the time. After the first recordings, Speckmann operated Master again because the former master drummer Bill Schmidt had rejoined the band after hearing the Death Strike recordings; the master demo recording made with this line-up is also incorrectly attributed to Death Strike, as Speckmann was active in both groups at the same time. The band received an offer from Combat Records for the release of the debut album , but the contract did not materialize. So the album was not released for the time being. It was dissolved because of the renewed activities, which Speckmann subsequently described as the biggest mistake of his career. It wasn't until Speckmann and Master got a record deal with Nuclear Blast that the album was released in 1991 on this label.

style

Death Strike is considered to be one of the first representatives of Death Metal. In contrast to the other bands in which Paul Speckmann was active, Death Strike has a stronger influence from punk and hardcore , which is also reflected in the take up of social issues; the bands that influenced Master and Death Strike include Discharge , The Exploited , GBH , Motörhead and Black Sabbath . Fuckin 'Death has often been compared to Hellhammer . Among the bands that again named Death Strike as an influence include Grotesque and Darkthrone .
