from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Debina white grape is native to Greece . It is recommended to grow it in the Epirus region (in the prefectures Ioannina and Thesprotia ) near the Albanian border and the Arcadia region in the Peloponnese , and it is also approved in Thessaly near Larisa . With a total of 789 hectares of planted vineyards (as of the end of the 1990s), it ranks 9th among the white varieties in the Greek grape variety index. The vine is also grown to a small extent in Albania .

In Epirus, for example, it is used in the wines of the Zitsa appellation . The late-ripening variety produces tangy, acidic white wines . These sparkling wines with an apple aroma are usually of good quality and are more or less lovingly developed. Rosé sparkling wines are also produced with proportions of red grape varieties.

In addition to its qualities as a wine grape, it is also valued locally as a table grape .
