December is the fourth album by pianist George Winston , recorded in 1981. It is currently being re-released on the Dancing Cat Records label . The music album marks the end of a trilogy with autumn and winter motifs that Winston published between 1980 and 1982 at Windham Hill. This trilogy formed a cornerstone for the emerging New Age musical genre .
reception
William Ruhlmann, who reviewed the album for the Allmusic music database , describes it with good reason as the mother of all solo albums. An audience of millions let the music stir, soothe, relax and elevate them at the same time.
The album entered the Billboard 200 in January 1985 , reached number 54 and stayed in the US charts for almost two years at 99 weeks.
Ten years after its publication, the American phono association RIAA certified the third platinum record for more than three million records sold.
