Windham Hill Records

Windham Hill Records is an American music label based in New York City .

The label is a subsidiary of the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) and as a record company specializes in the publication of music from the New Age and Folk Music sectors. In 1976 the label was founded by guitarist and carpenter William Ackerman and his then wife Anne Robinson. Windham Hill Records was particularly successful in the 1980s, but no longer sells records today.

The label was bought up by BMG in several partial sales between 1992 and 1996 and is now a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment . The Windham Hill offering is now distributed by Legacy Recordings . Private Music , also a subsidiary of BMG, has re-released a number of Windham Hill Records releases.
