Career

David Cullen began his career as a hockey player in the team of the University of Maine , for which he was active from 1995 to 1999 in the Hockey East . Then the defender received on April 16, 1999 as a free agent a contract with the Phoenix Coyotes , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2000/01 season . He remained pointless and punished in two games. He also came at the beginning of the 2001/02 season to another 14 missions in the NHL for the team from Arizona . Most of the time from 1999 to 2002 in the Coyotes franchise , however, he spent with their farm team , the Springfield Falcons , in the American Hockey League . After he had been given in exchange for Sébastien Bordeleau to the Minnesota Wild on January 4, 2002 , he came again almost exclusively to assignments in the AHL, this time for the Houston Eros , the farm team of the Wild. With this he won the Calder Cup in the 2002/03 season .

From 2003 to 2006 Cullen was in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans under contract. He was then signed by the DEG Metro Stars from the German Ice Hockey League , which he left after only one year to play for Färjestad BK in the Swedish Elitserien in the 2007/08 season . At the end of November 2007, however, he moved back to North America when the Syracuse Crunch from the AHL signed him on the waiver list. In the summer of 2008, the Canadian moved to the EC Graz 99ers from the Austrian Ice Hockey League , for which he played until 2010.
