Revetment

As revetments in are hydraulic , the outer protective layers for embankments understood by the banks buildings. Their task is to secure the structure on the water side against the effects of waves and currents . They protect particularly endangered parts of the embankment.

A distinction is made depending on the function, type of construction and building material used

  • Closed and open revetments
  • Rubbish stone , setting stone, concrete block revetments and others
  • Plate and mat coverings
  • Smooth and rough revetments

Revetments are included in dead shoring . If possible, combinations of dead and living structures are also used, in which pastures and other suitable woody plants are planted above the mean water level.
